Job Description Job Description Summary The Summer Camp Counselor helps children grow, play, and thrive in a Christ-centered environment by providing attentive supervision, encouraging character development, and supporting engaging summer activities and outings for rising 1st–6th graders. Duties What You’ll Do ·Supervise campers throughout the day, ensuring safety, positive behavior, and active engagement. ·Lead and assist with daily activities such as outdoor play, games, crafts, STEM challenges, sports, water activities, and group projects. ·Support a Christ-centered environment by encouraging character growth (kindness, honesty, respect, perseverance, service, etc.). ·Help maintain consistent schedules and smooth transitions (arrival, activities, lunch, rest/reset times, clean-up, dismissal). ·Build positive relationships with campers by being present, attentive, and encouraging. ·Assist with on-campus set-up, clean-up, organization, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. ·Help implement behavior supports using positive guidance and clear expectations. ·Communicate promptly with Camp Leadership regarding concerns, safety issues, injuries, or parent needs. ·Participate in staff training, planning meetings, and daily preparation as assigned. ·Field Trips (if assigned): ·Support supervision and headcounts, follow safety procedures, and remain alert and engaged. ·Assist with loading/unloading and maintaining calm, orderly conduct during travel and outings. ·Follow transportation policies and all camp safety expectations. Safety and Professional Expectations ·Maintain active supervision at all times (positioning, scanning, listening, anticipating needs). ·Follow all camp policies, emergency procedures, and incident reporting requirements. ·Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with children and family information. ·Use appropriate language, tone, and discipline methods aligned with MGP values and policies. ·Demonstrate reliability and punctuality, understanding that consistent staffing is critical for safety. Requirements What We’re Looking For - We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and responsible individual who loves working with children and thrives in a team environment. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will: ·Be a follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to live all aspects of life under His Lordship. ·Model positive, respectful behavior toward children, families, and co-workers, fostering a loving and supportive environment. ·Bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and a joyful attitude to daily camp life. ·Communicate effectively and with care, using tact, patience, and kindness in all interactions. ·Understand and practice safety procedures to ensure a secure environment for all campers. ·Support a solution-driven, transparent, and fun atmosphere where children can thrive. Education and Experience ·High School diploma or equivalent required (college students welcome). ·Must be able to pass required background checks and meet childcare licensing requirements (as applicable). Nice To Haves Experience working with children (camp, childcare, coaching, tutoring, VBS, etc.) preferred. CPR/First Aid training preferred or willingness to obtain.
