About This Role
The Scientist/Sr. Engineer - ASO will contribute as a subject
matter expert for anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASO) manufactured at
Biogen. They will provide technical expertise on purification
methods and strategies while being expected to contribute on
synthesis technology and its application in manufacturing. They
will lead technical process investigations and demonstrate the
capability to lead ASO operations' tech transfer for manufacturing
What You'll Do
Develop and qualify laboratory models and perform laboratory
experiments towards process optimization or robustness. The work
requires collaborative skills and will be coordinated with
activities in RTP, NC, and Cambridge, MA.
Design studies and effectively and efficiently communicate results
and decisions to the technology transfer team, site management, and
other Biogen groups.
Author technical, developmental, and validation reports
independently. Provide data and reports to support process
robustness/understanding, investigations, and regulatory
submissions as needed
Contribute on technology transfers by conducting/coordinating
laboratory experiments and guiding implementation of process
parameters or controls for manufacturing processes.
Lead multi-functional teams on technical projects towards improved
facility capabilities, efficient systems, improved technical
competency, or increased process/scale-up understanding.
Who You Are
You are a highly motivated and creative individual with applicable
knowledge for the GMP production of ASO drug substances. You are
passionate in exploring novel science-based strategies and excited
for hands-on work to define the cutting-edge technologies used at
Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
MS with 10 years applicable experience.
BS with 12 years applicable experience.
Technical knowledge in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and/or
Excellent communication skills; ease and comfort in interacting
with various teams in identifying solutions to support
PhD with 2-4 years of applied experience
Prior experience with ASO synthesis and purification operations
Experience with data management/systems
Our mission to find therapies for neurological and rare diseases is
