Summary:
Assess / evaluate current business processes and align continuous
improvement efforts across the facility with focus on strategy
execution.
Lead and develop site employees to identify and execute improvement
projects around reliability and efficiency improvements.
Instill a culture of continuous improvement across the business
using Lean tools.
Align manufacturing engineering activities with continuous
improvement efforts / activities
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Mission
Understand, support, and promote the Mission and Values of Mickey
Truck Bodies.
Ensure that direct working relationships are established and
maintained with colleagues and internal/external customers.
Duties
Lead the development and implementation of process improvements by
eliminating waste using Lean principles.
Focus the organization on prioritized process improvement
strategies and objectives.
Track continuous process improvement metrics & report to Process
Owner, Stakeholder(s), and Sponsor(s) on progress.
Be the team's expert on lean principles, providing training to all
staff on the methods and practices for improving processes,
eliminating waste, improving customer service, and adding profit to
the bottom line.
Direct the planning, coordination, delivery, and facilitation of
improvement events using lean techniques such as value stream
mapping, strategy deployment, Kaizen events, root cause analysis,
SMED, and 7S.
Evaluate current processes & technologies for cost efficiencies and
effectiveness, recommend appropriate changes and lead
execution/implementation/validation of recommended and approved
changes.
Responsible for tracking and reporting all project progress,
successes, and failures.
Analyze quality test results and perform engineering analysis to
ensure production meets quality requirements.
Develop manufacturing processes for new product launches from
supplier to customer.
Lead projects that achieve the intended impacts on productivity,
inventory, safety, and quality improvements.
Implement, communicate, and use Lean tools in designing fixtures,
gauges, tooling, and equipment when establishing processes and
assisting operators to meet customer demand.
Develop Capital expenditure CAPEX documentation to support policy
deployment targets. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge & Skills:
Essential Criteria
Minimum of 8+ years' experience as a manufacturing, industrial, or
mechanical engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent observational skills
Processed based, logical problem solver
Experience in conducting root-cause analyses into reliability or
operational issues and developing sustainable corrective and
preventive actions
Ability to return results on projects in a timely and cost-
effective manner
Strong program & project management skills
Written and oral communication skills, managerial skills, and
organizational skills to effectively deal with both internal and
external customers
High degree of effectiveness in Change Leadership as many issues
require individuals or departments to change behaviors or conduct
their work processes differently than they have in the past
Hands-on experience and knowledge of metal forming equipment and
welding (MIG & TIG).
Experience in assembly processes and line layout is required.
Demonstrated ability to continuously improve manufacturing
processes.
Ability to engage others at all levels in the organization in a
manner which facilitates collaboration in problem solving.
Demonstrated experience in the development of processes, work
holdings, and tools to manufacture products from blueprint.
Demonstrated experience in determining machines, tools, processes
for product manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience in conducting controlled thorough
experiments, along with manufacturing validation run offs
Strong skills in CAD/CAM modeling, dimensioning, and drawing
creation
Desirable Criteria
Experience in leading manufacturing process implementation (Line
Start-up) preferred
Supervisory experience a plus
Experience in developing both short and long-term strategies that
have resulted in process/business improvement and/or cost savings,
etc.
Hands on experience and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics,
electrical and electronics.
Outstanding expertise in the use of commonly used measurement tools
(such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.).
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to communicate clearly
Requires ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, crawl,
and kneel
Specific vision ability required includes close, distance, color,
and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing work environment that has frequent exposure to fumes
or airborne particles, noise intensity level, proximity to moving
mechanical parts and exposure to weather.
