Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Design Engineer to join our growing on-site team in a fast-paced custom machine building environment. This role is responsible for designing innovative automation equipment from concept through installation while ensuring designs meet customer specifications, safety standards, budget targets, and project timelines. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in an engineer-to-order environment. Key Responsibilities Design custom automated machinery, tooling, and mechanical systems using 3D CAD software. Develop detailed drawings, bills of material, and release packages for manufacturing. Collaborate with controls engineers, manufacturing, supply chain, and project managers to deliver complete machine solutions. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts. Support equipment builds on the shop floor and troubleshoot design issues as they arise. Interface with customers during technical reviews and occasional site visits. Ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, CE as applicable). Drive cost-effective design choices without sacrificing performance or reliability. Maintain engineering documentation and revision control. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 2 years of machine design experience preferred; custom automation experience strongly desired. Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanical detailing (SolidWorks preferred). Strong understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, linear motion, and mechanical power transmission. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and assembly. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
