The Manager of Care Utilization is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Care Utilization Teams.
The manager is responsible for planning and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of their staff and other resources within the scope of their department and within the matrix environment

Responsible for day-to-day operations and oversight of team work flowResponsible to meet goals including, but not limited to, productivity, minimal error rates, outcome goals, revenue maximization, care planning matrixAudits team tasks including but not limited to medical coding, documentation review completion, case conferencing, error resolution. Ensures all tasks are compliant with regulatory requirementsResponsible for bi-weekly communication with Director of Resource Utilization and Central Support and other Home Health leaders as needed to include current team status and completion of tasks related to revenue impact of care planningOversees timely completion of all documentation review, face to face, and case conferencesMaintains employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, coverage for absenteeism and overtime schedulingAssists and serves on committees and project groups as requested by leadersAssists with ensuring maximum use of the home health electronic medical recordParticipates in branch and product line meetings to identify operational issues and creates process improvement in responseDevelops and facilitates education for home health branch and field staff as identified or requestedCollaborates with other leaders in the organization in order to improve processesCommunicates regularly with other managers, the director, senior leaders and other designated contacts within the organizationMaintains confidentiality of all company and patient related information. Protects patient rights as defined in the Patient Bill of RightsEvaluates plans of care created by home health field clinicians for appropriate clinical care that meets regulatory and payer requirementsFacilitates effective communication amongst clinicians providing care to the patient and members of the teamsPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Responsible for selection and hiring of qualified staff, ensuring an effective on-boarding and providing comprehensive training and regular feedbackAccomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standardsEstablishes annual goals and objectives for the department based on the organizations strategic goalsResponsible for achieving organizational performance and retention goals, including timely completion of performance evaluations
Competency, Skills and Abilities: Ability to integrate daily activities with desktop and other technology applications for professional appearance and automation of daily dutiesAbility to contribute as a team member and to work independentlyStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projectsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsProficient use of Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word and PowerPointSolid ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interactionKnowledge of regulatory requirements at state, federal, and local level Education and Experience Requirements: Current and unrestricted license / registration by state of hire as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist or Speech TherapistTwo year degree from an accredited college in nursing or therapyTwo years work-related experience in home care is requiredExact job experience is home health managementBachelor's degree preferredRelevant clinical and home health experience requiredMedical coding experience and case management experience preferred
