position is to assist the department in conducting consumer
research. This research will be used to provide business
recommendations to the Strategic Business Units (SBU's), Sales,
Marketing, Category Management, and Brand Marketing teams. These
recommendations will impact sales, strengthen our brands, and
enhance our customer relationships. Understanding the wants and
needs of consumers through research will inform product and
packaging development, our marketing and advertising efforts, and
allow for fact-based sales presentations. These programs and
initiatives will result in stronger sales for HbI and our customers
since we will be fulfilling the wants and needs of consumers.
- Consumer Insights Business Consulting - Support Sr. Managers &
Managers by leveraging research data and information to proactively
identify business opportunities and gain internal support to act
upon these opportunities. To successfully leverage information,
assistant managers must thoroughly analyze available data,
integrate additional data sources and past learning into the
analysis, and take into account the strategies and capabilities of
HbI to ensure recommendations are realistic. Work with SBU's and
customer teams to ensure insights are informing all significant
business decisions. Business decisions involve all aspects of sales
& marketing activities - product development, both enhancements to
existing products and new products; packaging and merchandising;
trade promotions and consumer advertising; pricing strategy which
includes pack counts; and program development for key retail
customers.
- Insight Communication - Assist Sr. Managers & Managers in
communicating consumer research learning to all relevant
cross-functional groups in clear and timely manner. Convey
information in both in-person presentations as well as written
reports. Focus should be on communication that results in a
specific business action being taken.
- Insights-Based Selling - Partner with customer teams to ensure
all available learning is being utilized in selling
activities.
- Consumer & Shopper Insights Project Management - Manage
external suppliers in execution of research projects. Identify
ideal methodology, supervise the data collection process, guide
analytic work plan, and ensure all available information is
generated to support business needs. Manage efficient use of
financial resources and timing of cash flow needs.
- Ad Hoc Support - Supports the team on various information needs
in support of activities such as investor relations communications,
board of directors meetings, monthly Sales & Marketing Reviews,
Monthly Operating Reviews, etc.
- Budget Management - Assist internal teams in the creation of
Marketing Research Authorization forms (MRA). Route forms for
approval in a timely manner. Enter expense data into project
database and ensure information is always up-to-date. Manage
suppliers to stay within agreed upon costs.
- External Supplier Identification - Identify those suppliers who
have strong subject matter expertise that will benefit HbI. Assist
team in managing a small set of preferred suppliers for specific
types of research such as product testing, qualitative research,
and general quantitative survey work.
- 4-year degree, advanced degree highly desirable. Preferred
degrees are in business, statistics, social sciences, or marketing
research.
- Masters in Market Research preferred
- 5+ years of experience preferred. Corporate marketing research
experience preferred, ideally within a consumer packaged goods or
retail/apparel company.
- Strong computer skills are required (Excel, Word, Data
Management Software, etc.).
- Must be able to take initiative in driving results and be able
to influence others.
- Must be results oriented and have a passion for achieving
results.
- Must work well in a team and communicate well with both oral
and written presentations.
- Must be able to manage change and assist with process
improvements.
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analytics
required.
