DescriptionThe Director of Business Analytics is responsible for
overseeing the use of data and analytics to perform complex problem
solving and research to support the business operations of Tepper
Sports & Entertainment, which includes the NFL's Carolina Panthers,
MLS's Charlotte FC, and Bank of America Stadium events. This
position is primarily focused on collaborating with and serving as
a resource for the business unit leaders within the Marketing,
Partnership Sales and Activation, Ticket and Premium Sales, Retail
and Finance departments, in order to optimize net revenues and meet
other goals and objectives set forth in the organizational
strategic plan.The Director of Business Analytics will set forth
and develop best-in-class analytics capabilities of the
organization, grow the influence and impact of data analytics
within the business operations, and be responsible for making
strategic recommendations based on analytics and research.Primary
Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource for and the primary liaison between the
various business unit leaders to ensure effective cross utilization
of data in a manner that optimizes net revenues
- Manage a team of 6+ analysts as well as the relationship with
our third-party data warehouse provider, advancing our analytics
capabilities to be a leading team in sports
- Work with business unit leaders to develop data-driven
strategies and recommendations to help achieve the organization's
key objectives
- Deliver a broad range of functional responsibilities critical
to Business Operations:
- Forecasting, reporting and data visualization
- Predictive analytics/modeling, lead scoring and retention
strategy
- Pricing strategy development
- Customer research and segmentation
- Product development
- Directly inform and partner with business unit managers to
properly track current results and positively impact key business
drivers including but not limited to:
- Increase consumer and corporate revenue (advertising,
partnerships, premium, and ticket), concert revenue, and
sponsorship activation operations, including inventory management,
benchmarking and pricing of assets
- Improve tailoring of marketing and sales efforts through the
deepening of the understanding of fan segments and fan/individual
behavior
- Grow ancillary revenue streams, including, but not limited to:
retail, food and beverage, parking, attendance, etc.
- Leverage data and technology to enhance the fan experience
- Create actionable insights and understandings through the
analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, building
recommendations that directly address organizational goal and
objectives
- Lead and develop the Consumer Insights, Data Science, Business
Intelligence and Business Analytics team members by providing clear
work direction and individual growth and development
opportunities
- Act as key liaison with NFL and MLS Club Business Development
Teams and influence, through data, key internal and external
business decisions
- Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience including 4+ years in a data driven
environment
- 3+ years of management experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business
Analytics, Data Science, Statistics)
- Proven track record of success using data analytics to drive
incremental net revenues and meet other organizational goals and
objectives
- Proven ability to communicate analytical findings and related
strategic recommendations clearly to multiple teams and areas of
expertise
- Strong quantitative, financial modeling skills, including
exposure to SQL and relational databases
- High proficiency with Excel, including ability to build complex
spreadsheet models, run pivots, macros, v-lookups and other
advanced functions
- Experience with Tableau or other similar data visualization
tools
- Ability to deliver both detail-oriented analyses and strategic
recommendations.
- Ability to develop analytic approach to issues and questions
presented, and to see processes through from issue presentation to
strategic recommendationPreferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement statistical models
in Python preferred but not requiredDesired Skills
- Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with ability
to multi-task and collaborate
- Ability to prioritize requests based on available
resources
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must exhibit professionalism when interacting with staff and
key stakeholders throughout the organization
- Must be able to handle confidential, privileged, and/or
sensitive information with care and sensitivity.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills.
