Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months of PCU RN experience License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with tracheostomies Cardiac drip experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Chest tube management Blood product administration Wound care and dressing changes Management of central lines Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a progressive care unit. The facility operates 241 licensed beds and is designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center. The unit has 32 beds and you will care for patients with conditions not requiring mechanical ventilation. Common diagnoses may include CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain workups, strokes, abdominal illnesses and infections, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, and acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, but may occasionally increase to 1:5 depending on patient acuity. Support staff includes a charge nurse and a dedicated team for assistance with nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available, and respiratory therapy is on call 24/7. Nurses will have telemetry monitoring both at the bedside and at the nurses' station. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC, with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing. Floating to other facilities within the region may be required based on needs. Schedule rotation includes every other weekend, with no on-call requirements. Travelers will work a majority of holidays and can request time off within the contracted hours. The unit culture is described as family-oriented.
