This is a high acuity acute care telemetry unit. Our ideal candidate will be able to care for patients in a high acuity, acute care, telemetry unit that have been diagnosed with acute and chronic kidney failure and need limb salvage procedures. 1. Bachelor's degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. 2. 6 months - 1 year of Renal and/or Med/Surg experience required 3. BLS Healthcare Provider required. ACLS, PALS preferred Perks Relocation assistance Professional development opportunities Full benefits 401k Schedule details Day Night 12 hour shifts Care settings Acute details Registered Nurse - Med/Surg -Renal Department 1 day (7am-7pm) and 1 night shift (7pm-7am) available The Renal Unit also called 8 General is a high acuity acute care telemetry unit that specializes in the care of renal and limb preservation patients (LPP). However, as an acute care unit we do treat patients with a variety of medical issues and co-morbidities. This is an exciting fast paced unit necessitating lots of teamwork! The Renal/LPP unit primarily focuses on the care and management of patients that have been diagnosed with acute and chronic kidney failure and patients needing limb salvage procedures. These patients tend to have multiple, complex co-morbidities such as: diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, cardiovascular disease along with the associated complications from each disease. One never works alone on this unit. We utilize teamwork alongside an interdisciplinary team that includes Physicians, Dieticians, Social Workers, Clerical and Support Staff which empowers our unit to provide a remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. Experience: One year of relevant experience preferred. Licensure/certification/registration: Appropriate state RN licensure required. BLS Healthcare Provider required. ACLS, PALS preferred. Capacity: 41 patients Telemetry capacity: 24 patients Unit Leadership: Nurse Manager and 3 clinical unit leaders-present 7 days/week with night shift being covered as well. Limb preservation (LPP): interdisciplinary team led by our LPP RN navigator who had 10+ years experience working on 8 general prior to her current role and helps facilitate LPP patient needs Admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) nurse 4 days per week to facilitate discharges and admissions. Utilized on historically higher discharge days. Mobility aide to facilitate patient physical therapy needs 7 days/week. MUR-24/7 coverage with an additional MUR resource M-F 5am-1:30pm who is also an NA and can assist in patient rooms as necessary. RN ratio: 1:6 (day shift may be 1:5 after positions are filled) NA ratio: 1:8 (hopefully soon to be 1:7) I always share this because it is important for RNs to know what their team will look like Case management is present on the unit 7 days/week for needs and acts as a liaison between nursing and the community and sets up home health, DME needs, and transfers to skilled nursing facilities. SOAR educational offering- SOAR=surgical, orthopedic, and renal. Day long educational offering repeated 5 times/year so all RNs can attend. Nurse Managers from the 3 units coordinate the program yearly based on the educational needs/wants of current nursing team members. RNs also received 7+ CEs each year for attending.
