The Department of Clinical Sciences in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in general Internal Medicine and as the Assistant Applied Laboratory Coordinator. The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a qualified candidate is selected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Candidates with prior academic experience are encouraged to apply.The person in this position is responsible for teaching Pharm.D students, conducting practice and/or educational based research and providing service to the School of Pharmacy, University and the greater High Point community. Additionally, this person will serve as the Assistant Applied Laboratory Coordinator by providing inpatient pharmacy practice perspective to the multi-semester series. The estimated distribution of effort for this individual at program maturity (i.e., when a full faculty cohort is hired) will be 60% teaching, 20% scholarship and 20% service (clinical and non-clinical).QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Pharm.D. and/or PhD with a minimum of 1-year post-graduate training (PGY1 residency, fellowship) or equivalent work experience.Additional post-graduate training (e.g., PGY2 residency, fellowship) and professional certifications (BCPS) are also highly preferred and preference will be given to candidates with this additional training.Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.Experience and Training:Eligible for Pharmacy licensure in North Carolina (for applicants with a Pharm.D.)Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellence in pharmacy education and researchExperience working with students as a faculty mentor or preceptorKnowledge, Skills, Ability:Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skillsAbility to multi-task and work cooperatively with othersSkill dealing with a diverse group of peopleAbility to write scholarly documentsAbility to work with and teach using electronic medical recordsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop, coordinate, and teach content within the HPU School of Pharmacy integrated curriculum as appointed by the Department ChairServe as the Assistant Applied Laboratory Coordinator. Specific focus will be in serving as the course coordinator for laboratory courses as appointed by the Department Chair and providing inpatient pharmacy focused direction to the overall direction of the Clinical Skills Laboratory series. Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by Dean's Office and Department ChairMaintain scholarly activities in therapeutically relevant areas and conduct research in multidisciplinary fashionCollaborate in the clinical environment with established pharmacists to enhance services through education, research and quality improvement initiatives.Serve as liaison between HPU School of Pharmacy and the Faculty member's practice sitePublish in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at national and international meetingsIntegrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of research, education, and serviceAdvance the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and High Point University to meet community needs.
