Job Description:

High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Project Manager,. This position effectively coordinates and validates ongoing projects throughout the build cycle. Works with university employees and external partners to interpret and analyze construction needs. Coordinates general contractors and subcontractors for multiple smaller or special projects; being on the sites ensuring adherence to construction schedule and quality of work. The selected candidate must be able to work with HPU staff to listen to their needs and communicate effectively with them and the Director of Construction. QUALIFICATIONS: Education Bachelors degree in construction management or other related construction or engineering discipline. Experience and Training Extensive background in project and contract management and construction science.A minimum of 3 5 years in construction management. Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Ability to manage multiple smaller or special projects including budgets and projects schedules.Leadership ability to motivate contractors and other workers to perform to the top of their capabilities.Strong organizational skills.Versatile, with the ability to manage change and manage projects that may be constantly changing.Must be able to identify other areas, which may be related to the projects, that affect or are intertwined with the projects and that may need to be included in the scope of the original projects.Awareness of project safety issues (OSHA standards). Strong computer skills, especially in Excel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Management over site of construction projects within schedule and budget.Manage projects to mitigate liability exposure to the University.Maintains accurate spreadsheet reporting process for status of projects and budget compliance and explanations for any budget deviation.Works closely with administration and customers to keep them informed of the status of projects.Ensures that the final product meets the requirements of the contract documents and the University standards.Interacts closely with Facility Operations team to ensure that product delivered is consistent with current operational practices.Participates in the value engineering process.Reviews and approves payments to design professionals, construction contractors and material/equipment vendors.Participates in the University master planning process by evaluating current deferred maintenance needsCoordinates project meetings with University staff and outside contractors. Assists with the development of project scope, budget and time line.Assists in the project design process.Performs other duties as assigned.
