Purpose:

The position of Manufacturing Analyst exists to support the mission of the Asheboro plant and associated business plan objectives surrounding products and processes. The primary customers of this position are manufacturing and assembly operations. Additional customers include Engineering, Quality, EHS, and Maintenance departments through support and continuous improvement ofmanufacturing processes, design and assessment of needed tools, creation and support of work instructions, programs and gaging. The role requires technical competence in multiple manufacturing methods and systems for support of the manufacturing area. The holder of this position shall be capable of diagnosing and solving manufacturing problems using a structured analytical approach and have knowledge, competence. and display continued growth using current engineering tools and plant systems. The Manufacturing Analyst role requires participation in and contribution to projects of all sizes which are primarily technical in nature. Projects will provide customers with robust systems, processes, and procedures that facilitate superior customer quality in Asheboro manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance existing manufacturing processes by developing test procedures, performing data analysis and final reporting, especially on constraint or poor yield processes. This includes enhancements of technical issues related to performance measures and setup reduction activities and support of senior professionals in executing large scale projects.
  • Develop instructions for manufacturing process changes, operating procedures, tooling needs, etc. and deliver needed and/or requested training.
  • Develop cost reduction and continuous improvement ideas. Collaborate/liaison with plant and corporate technical resources on cross-functional process development; scrap reduction and problem-solving teams. Create charts, A3s, timelines and project plans as required. Provide updates to direct management and customers and provide proper closure of projects.
  • Take a lead role in investigation, follow-up and timely response to product and/or manufacturing issues and information requests as related to customer inquiries, reporting, concerns and/or complaints.
  • Take an active role in the development and implementation of new product functionality, by participating as required in the design for manufacturability as well as new product opportunities.
  • Participate on appropriate cross-functional continuous improvement teams as required to meet plant business plan objectives.
  • Develop and maintain open communications to effectively resolve manufacturing and/or quality related issues with local operations and associates, as well as other Timken locations, business units, customers and suppliers.
  • Provide daily problem-solving assistance as requested to all areas of manufacturing. This includes keeping assigned product holds and complaint/returns current and provide data analysis, root cause problem-solving for corrective and preventative action as well as timely and accurate reporting/feedback to plant leadership and ensuring that implemented improvements or corrective action is sustainable.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes including both mechanical and gaging hands-on experience.
  • Project management skills as well as ability to lead and train others.
  • Interpersonal and communications skills both written and oral.
  • Data management, use database queries, compilation of data for effective understanding and presentation.
  • Organizational skills and systemic thinking.
  • Microsoft Excel proficient

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Manufacturing Experience
