Primary Purpose :
The NC Zoo's Admissions Branch supports the NC Zoo by
recognizing that entry is an important part of the guest
experience. The Branch manages two main entry gates and provide
ticketing and guest information services, guest relations and
service recovery to the zoo's annual 800,000+ guests in a manner
consistent with the environment of the zoo as a tourism destination
and accredited institution.
Temporary positions work between 25 - 35 hours per week from
March through October, including holidays and weekends. Admissions
work hours are between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:30 pm and are based
on the weather and guest attendance at the park. Employees in
Admissions work under direct supervision, provide an outstanding
experience to NC Zoo guests and Society members. Positions handle
purchase transactions, crowd control and guest relations.
Communicate with the public about the NC Zoo habitats, attractions,
services, and policies. Report to the Admissions Branch Chief.
Greet guests with a smile and maintain a friendly and
approachable attitude towards guests and staff.
Responsible for selling and taking/scanning tickets for admissions
to the park.
Operate and a cash register, making change.
Assist guests with ticket orders, process sales through the
register, and collect payments.
Exercise good judgement and patience when dealing with guests.
Display a sense of urgency and professionalism at all times Work
crowd control in queuing lines, assist guests with admissions
questions, and direct guests to proper admissions entry gate.
Work exit gates to ensure paid entry and exit Identify items that
cannot be entered into Zoo and suggest solutions.
Job Requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must comply with NC Zoo Covid-19 Face Covering, Dress Code and
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to Central NC
(i.e. heat, rain, or cold) and stand/walk for extended periods of
time.The NC Zoo is known as the World's Largest Zoo for a reason!
Walking/standing on various surfaces for extended periods of time
is highly likely Possesses sufficient cognitive ability, auditory
and visual acuity and communication skills to perform essential
duties and follow animal and guest general safety practices.
Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts including
holidays, weekends and in support of events as needed.
Must be able to plan for, work, and staff special events and
exhibits as well as be available for unexpected shifts.
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including
sitting, bending, reaching, and standing, walking, and lifting and
carrying 30 lbs.
Must have ability to navigate paved as well as rough or uneven

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
