Intrepid Spirit Center (ISC), Fort Bragg, NC Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (between 0600–1800; typical clinic
hours 0700–1600) Position Overview The Sleep Neurologist
(Somnologist) provides specialized evaluation, diagnosis, and
treatment of sleep and sleep-related neurological disorders for
Service Members receiving care at the Fort Bragg Intrepid Spirit
Center (ISC). The position supports interdisciplinary assessment
and treatment of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI),
Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI), and complex neurological,
cognitive, and behavioral health conditions. The Somnologist serves
as a subject matter expert in sleep medicine and contributes to
integrated, patient-centered care within a Military Treatment
Facility (MTF) environment. Key Responsibilities - Provide
comprehensive outpatient sleep medicine services, including
examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with sleep and
breathing disorders of moderate to high complexity. - Performance
Work Statement 0814… - Evaluate patients with sleep disturbances
related to TBI, neurological injury, behavioral health conditions,
and AHI exposure. - Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic
studies, including polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing,
maintenance of wakefulness testing, actigraphy, overnight oximetry,
and related neurological and sleep assessments. - Diagnose sleep
disorders and develop treatment plans that may include positive
airway pressure therapies, oxygen therapy, pharmacologic
interventions, and behavioral modalities. - Conduct comprehensive
neurological examinations as part of sleep medicine evaluations,
including cranial nerve, motor, sensory, and cerebellar
assessments, as appropriate. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary
ISC teams, including neurologists, physiatrists, psychologists,
audiologists, nurses, therapists, and social workers, to support
coordinated care planning. - Provide consultation and referral
coordination with primary care managers and specialty clinics for
conditions outside the scope of sleep medicine. - Serve as a
subject matter expert in sleep medicine for complex and
multifaceted neurological and neuropsychiatric cases. - Participate
in interdisciplinary case conferences, quality assurance
activities, and clinic process improvement initiatives. - Educate
and provide consultation to other healthcare providers, trainees,
and clinical staff as assigned. - Maintain complete, accurate, and
timely clinical documentation in MHS GENESIS in accordance with
DHA, MTF, and Joint Commission standards. - Performance Work

business days and respond to secure patient messages within one (1)

required training and maintain proficiency in MHS GENESIS, Dragon
dictation software, and Microsoft Office applications. - Comply
with all regulatory, credentialing, privileging, peer review,
utilization management, and quality assurance requirements. Minimum
Qualifications - Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of
Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school
(or approved equivalent). - Board Certification: Board eligible or
board certified in Sleep Medicine. - Licensure: Current, full,
active, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state,
territory, or the District of Columbia. - Residency/Training:
Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited internship and
residency program, with appropriate training in sleep medicine. -
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS). - Experience: Experience
providing sleep medicine services in an outpatient or
interdisciplinary clinical setting; experience treating complex
neurological or TBI-related sleep disorders preferred. - Security
Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain required background
investigation and installation access credentials. - Other
Requirements: Ability to work under a personal services arrangement
with day-to-day clinical supervision comparable to government
personnel; compliance with DHA policies, MTF procedures, and Joint
Commission standards.
