Job Description:
Position Summary This position will serve as a Clinical Research
Nurse Coordinator within the department of Pediatrics, division of
Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine. The Clinical Research Nurse
Coordinator is responsible for independently providing specialized
nursing services for various clinical research protocols. They are
responsible for providing guidance and assistance to study teams in
both clinical and non-clinical areas of research, including
participant visits, data quality, and others. The Division of
Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics is
committed to improving the health status of infants. We are
currently participating in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National
Institute of Child Health and Human Development Neonatal Research
Network ( NRN ) which performs large clinical trials to help meet
this goal. Currently, there are 3 clinical trials ongoing at UNC
under the direction of the NRN grant. In addition, the Division
also participates in other NIH funded and industry funded clinical
trials. The primary purpose of this position is to help recruit
patients, abstract data from the clinical chart, and enter data
onto case report forms (paper or electronic) for clinical trials
(e.g., NRN , other NIH , industry) for which we will participate.
In addition, for NRN trials, the nurse consultant will communicate
with the Data Coordinating Center to help resolve data queries.
Multiple trials are underway simultaneously and will be conducted
at the UNC Newborn Critical Care Center. The position is critical
to address the volume of activity, complexity of conducting
clinical trials and data being collected. This position is
responsible for following all federal guidelines for data
collection, development and submission of reports, and meeting
established deadlines. This position will be responsible for with
speaking with patients in a medical setting and conducting lab
processing (centrifuging, aliquoting, shipping). Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Flexible with some
nights/weekends as needed)
